Was at a craft fair today and there was a gentleman who made words out of photographs he took of objects, manmade and natural, that looked like letters of the alphabet. He then framed them and they were awesome. Had that in mind when I selected Alphabet as one of the possible themes for next month.
Reportage is reporting or documenting an event. Although, when I first included this in the list, I was under the impression it meant photographing someone without their knowing it. (Please keep in mind, I would prefer not to get sued!)
Nostalgia is pretty self explanatory. And Comfort can be whatever brings you comfort. I hope there is a theme that is of interest to you all. Please don't forget to vote. Thanks for all your great support.
P. S. If you have any suggestions for future themes, please let me know. Thanks.
In search of creative growth, this blog was designed to encourage the personal betterment of those who enjoy photography as a hobby. Each month's new theme can encourage us to see the world in a different way. We all view things differently. The diversity we enjoy can fuel the creative spirit. It is hoped that we can all glean something from one another.
Frabjous - (frab-juhs) - adjective
Defined as wonderful, superb, elegant or delicious. Coined by Lewis Carroll in Through the Looking Glass; perhaps meant to suggest fabulous or joyous. Do we not feel wonderful or joyous about something we ourselves have created? Hopefully this blog will encourage us to create something frabjous!
Here is how it works. Each month will have a new theme to stimulate creative thinking. We invite people to make suggestions for upcoming themes. The month prior, you can vote for the theme you would like out of four listed. The rules are simple. No rules really. The idea is to get us to think and be mindful of the theme for the month. Take photos that relate to that theme. (However, if you have a really great shot that was taken at another time, use it.) No photo police here. Any camera will do. Even phones with cameras are pretty good these days and they are always handy. Also, if a filter or cropping enhances your photo, go for it. The digital age has given us flexibility that we should take advantage of. One to five photos can be submitted for the blog. Interpretation is up to each individual. We welcome comments.
Theme suggestions and photos can be submitted to frabjousphoto@optonline.net. Submissions must be made no later than the last day of each month. Photos will be posted as received throughout the month. Happy snapping!

Theme for November - Technology!
As you may know, the voting was tied once again. Got tired of flipping a coin, so I rolled the virtual dice on my phone. Odds - Doors & Windows; Evens - Technology. Evens it was, so Technology it is!
Thanks to all who submitted Round pictures in October. (Even all you "just under the wire" photographers!)
Looking forward to November's Technological challenge!

Gazing about at the Bronx Zoo
This round gazing ball was reflecting the older buildings at the Bronx Zoo. Directly behind me and in the center of the gazing ball is the old Elephant House.

Theme for October - Round
While Food may have been abundant, perhaps it was limiting. Round covers the spectrum: animal, mineral, vegetable; or person, place or thing. Don't think about it too much. As the month progresses, Round will probably roll right up and smack you in the face. When it does, take a picture. As Steve Winwood says, "Roll with it."
